How to Get Your Business Found on Google in Nigeria

How to Get Your Business Found on Google in Nigeria

If someone in your area searches for what you sell and you do not appear, that sale goes to whoever does. Getting found is not luck. It is a handful of things done consistently.

Claim your Google Business Profile

This is the single highest-return thing most Nigerian small businesses have not done. It is free, it takes about twenty minutes, and it is what puts you on the map results people actually tap.

  • Use your real trading name, exactly as it appears on your signage
  • Pick the most specific category available, not the broadest one
  • Add opening hours and keep them current

Get reviews, and reply to them

Reviews are the strongest signal you control. Ask every satisfied customer, and reply to each review you receive, including the unhappy ones. A calm reply to a bad review reads better to a stranger than a wall of five stars with no responses.

Be consistent everywhere

Your name, address and phone number should read identically on your profile, your directory listings and your own pages. Inconsistency is what makes search engines unsure the listings refer to the same business.

List where your customers already look

Directories that people in your city actually use are worth more than a scattering of generic ones. A listing on a directory your neighbours browse sends real visitors, not just a link.
